Spring Meeting Information

Attention CULC/CBUC Members –

The CULC/CBUC Executive is meeting and working  to set an agenda and plan for the meeting net month is Halifax. The dates of the meeting are Sunday, May 29th and Monday, May 30th, 2011. This is immediately following the CLA/ACB Annual Conference.  The meeting will begin at 8:30 am on the 29th. The agenda is scheduled to end at 1:00 on May 30th.

The meeting is being held in the Creighton Room on the 2nd floor of the Alderney Gate Library, Dartmouth. Access is simple by ferry from downtown Halifax. Ferries run every 15 minutes and the ferry terminal building in Dartmouth is connected by a breeze way to the Alderney Gate Library. Specific instructions will be in the complete meeting package.

CALL FOR AGENDA ITEMS
The Executive is crafting an agenda for Halifax that will include:  CULC/CBUC’s Annual Meeting and Audit receipt; discussions on some KPI elements that Pierre Meunier from Montreal would like to get input on; Discussion on the eBook issues that CULC/CBUC has been working towards; update and input on Research initiatives that CULC/CBUC is contributing to at the moment. Gillian Hewitt-Smith from the Institute for Canadian Citizenship will be joining as a Guest on Monday morning. A tentative agenda will be on the CULC/CBUC site in the members section by the end of this week. If you would like something added to the agenda for consideration by the Executive, please submit to me by May 3rd at jgilbert@culc.ca

SUNDAY EVENING ACTIVITY

Our Halifax Host Judith Hare is working with us on an event for the Sunday evening.  Like 2009 one invoice at the end of the year will be sent to each member for the evening events they participate in.

MEETING BACKGROUND DOCUMENTS
The complete package for the meeting will be emailed in a 2.0MB PDF on or about May 18th. However, the sections will be loaded onto the website in the members section as pieces become available.

CONFIRMING ATTENDANCE
Please send a quick reply confirming whether you will be attending the Spring Meeting in person. Also please confirm your participation in Sunday Evening’s event.

TWO ADDITIONAL ITEMS – Autumn 2011 Meeting (SURREY) and European Study Tour 2011
Both are connected as topics. The Study Tour is set for September 25th to October 3rd. We are receiving wonderful co-operation from colleagues in Copenhagen, Helsinki and Amsterdam. It is shaping up to be an excellent trip.

The details are constantly being updated on the Study Tour. The timing of the Study Tour is necessitating a change in the Autumn Meeting. The location will be SURREY, BC. The dates will be Sunday and Monday, November 6 and 7, 2011.
