Danielle McDonald new CEO of Ottawa Public Library

Councillor Jan Harder, Chair of the Ottawa Public Library Board, is pleased to announce on behalf of the Board the appointment of Danielle McDonald to the position of Chief Executive Officer, Ottawa Public Library effective March 5, 2012.

Danielle holds a Master of Arts, Public Administration from Carleton University and a Bachelor of Environmental Studies, Honours, Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Waterloo. Her educational background is complemented by more than 25 years of management experience, including strategic planning, finance, human resources and technology with the City of Ottawa and the Ottawa Public Library.

“The Board has complete confidence that Danielle is the right person to be the next Chief Executive Officer,” said Chair Harder. “Danielle’s extensive experience within Ottawa and the OPL have been marked by outstanding performance. In this time of technological challenge and change, her leadership and management skills will be invaluable.”

Since joining the Library as Division Manager, Facilities and Business Services in January 2009, Danielle has led significant initiatives in library facilities planning and development including the delivery of $5.75M in renovations and new construction of branches; business services where she has been responsible for OPL budgets, finance, and risk management, as well as for public services in 18 Library branches, including all those which serve Ottawa’s rural communities.
