This year, discussions will be the cornerstone of an interactive day that will build on the conclusions of previous summits. Speakers include Nathalie Bondil, Director General and Chief Curator of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and Charles Eckman, Dean of Libraries at the University of Miami.

Discussions will focus on the value of galleries, libraries, archives and museums (GLAMs), and the ways that technology can be used to build user interest. These discussions will provide a forum to initiate new partnerships between memory institutions, as well as beyond these organizations.

The Summit will include three expert panels examining specific issues: (1) Quebec’s diverse collaboration models; (2) the ways that memory institutions can renew their relations with Indigenous peoples to preserve, make accessible, and value Indigenous heritage and cultures; and (3) collaborations between memory institutions and companies in the technological world to improve user experiences and encourage innovation.

Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss the preliminary findings of a study on the value of GLAMs currently being conducted by Oxford Economics for the Canadian Museums Association and the Ottawa Declaration Working Group.

A detailed program will be available a few weeks before the event. Stay tuned.
