Lori Kelly leaving Mississauga Library

The City of Mississauga is pleased to announce Lori Kelly as the new Director, Human Resources effective April 6, 2020. Kelly is the Director, Library, a position she has held since 2018.

“I am very delighted to welcome Lori to Corporate Services where she will be leading the Human Resources division,” said Gary Kent, Commissioner, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer. “Lori is a great example of home-grown talent, having started her career at the City and managed various portfolios. She has strong interpersonal skills, a passion for continuous improvement and building positive employee culture. The workplace is impacted by rapidly changing demographics and technology. Lori has all the right skills, working with her team, to continue to ensure the corporation attracts and retains the talent required to support Council and the community.”

Under her leadership as Director, Library, Kelly secured approval for the Library’s 5-year vision (Future Directions Master Plan) including funding for the renovation of Central Library; expanded the Library’s lending program to include hot spot and Chromebooks; modernized the collection with investments in electronic resources and formalized the Open Window Hub, the Library’s homelessness prevention and outreach initiative.

Prior to her position in the Library division, Kelly was Senior Manager, Talent Management in HR and Manager, Strategic Community Initiatives where she helped develop the City’s 40-year Strategic Plan.

Reporting to the Commissioner, Corporate Services, Kelly will be responsible for promoting excellence in people by delivering innovative HR strategies and programs that enable internal clients to successfully achieve their business goals. Areas of focus include talent management, compensation, health, safety and wellness as well as employee and labour relations and human resources information systems.

Kelly has an honours degree in Political Science from Western University, certification in Human Resources Management and a Masters Certificate in Municipal Leadership from Schulich. She is a member of the Human Resources Professional Association.

She replaces Sharon Willock who retired earlier this year.
