Cuts to CELA & NNELS Funding

As you may have heard CELA and NNELS have launched a public advocacy campaign. This year the federal government plans to cut $1 million from accessible book funding which is shared by CELA and NNELS and continue to cut an additional $1 million each year until all federal funding is eliminated in 2025.

As a result of these cuts CELA is facing an immediate shortfall of $750,000. This will have devastating impacts on the production and distribution of accessible reading materials for the 1 in 10 people who have a print disability.

Please consider sharing this information with your network and users, and advocating on their behalf with your MPs. CELA has provided template letters to MPs, speaking points, and social media graphics on the website at celalibrary.ca/advocacy
