MPL Chief Librarian Awarded the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Pin for Service to the Community
Staff from MPL were delighted to be able to meet with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau when he visited Milton on Friday, September 2nd. At the event, in honour of Conservation Halton’s newest park, Area 8, Milton Public Library’s Chief Librarian, Mark Williams was presented with the Queen’s Jubilee Pin for exceptional service and dedication to support the Milton community by Milton MP Adam van Koeverden.
“Having been invited to meet the Prime Minister on his recent visit to Milton was set to be the highlight of my day, nay year. But to have subsequently been awarded the Queen’s Jubilee pin for services to the community was not only a complete surprise but obviously an additional highlight, of the day. To say I was taken aback is an understatement and I am humbled and honoured to receive this award. My utmost and sincerest gratitude is extended to MPL Ambassador and federal Milton MP, Adam Van Koeverden for being such an advocate for everything we do,” shares Chief Librarian and recipient, Mark Williams.
2022 marks the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 70th anniversary of her accession to the Throne. She is Canada’s longest reigning Sovereign and the first to celebrate a platinum jubilee. In celebration of this historic milestone, the Government of Canada has produced a limited-edition commemorative pin to be awarded as a certificate of recognition to exceptional community leaders.
