2020 Study Tour – POSTPONED DUE TO COVID-19
Dates:
- Wednesday, April 15 (Arrive in Oslo)
- Friday, April 24 (End of planned tour in Copenhagen)
Itinerary: (subject to change)
OSLO (Day 1, 2, 3)
- New Oslo Central Library (opening 2020), session with Lund Hagem the architectural firm that designed the library
- Tour of Oslo branches, including an open library
- Presentation by Snønetta, the architectural firm that designed the new library in Alexandria
HELSINKI (Day 4, 5, 6)
- Helsinki University Main Library
- Helsinki Central Library
- Helsinki suburban branch
COPENHAGEN and area (Day 7, 8, 9)
- Royal Library – Black Diamond
- Aarhus Dokk1 Library
- Malmö Central Library
- Oxie and Garaget Branches of the Malmö Library
Cost:
Members: $5,550 plus taxes (library staff, board, architects working with a member on a current project)
What the cost would cover:
- Airfare within Europe
- 9 nights of accommodation (based on single occupancy)
- All transfers and ground transportation
- 9 breakfasts; some lunches; and three dinners
- No visas required
- On-tour support personnel
- All European taxes
- Main host gift(s) in each city
What would not be covered:
- Airfare to Oslo
- Transportation from Oslo airport to the hotel;
- Transportation from hotel to Copenhagen airport
- Airfare home from Copenhagen
- Non-stated meals; beverages; tips/gratuities
- Trip insurance
- Double occupancy discount ($550)
- Approximately $75–$115 in HST for Canadian paid items
- Extra days if choosing travel early or extend beyond
Who can go on the tour:
- Members (anyone within a member library system)
- Architects and Planners working with a member
- Retired Members
- Spouses
- If room, it will be opened up beyond, to other members of the Canadian public library community for $5,800.
The target is 20-24 people.
Date for Expression of Interest:
Forms and deposit are required as a formal expression of interest by September 15, 2019. Final payment is due by January 15, 2020.
