PLLeaders Launches 5th Cohort

Launched our 5th cohort of the 18 month Public Library Leaders (PLLeaders) program with a rebuilt curriculum largely delivered virtually, with 38 participants from across Canada, with an introductory panel discussion with the CULC/CBUC Executive.

New this year is an instructional unit on Intellectual Freedom and the role of Public Libraries led by James L Turk from Ryerson’s Centre for Free Expression. Panelists include: Pilar Martinez, CEO, Edmonton Public Library; Mark Williams, CEO Milton Public Library; and Marcellus Turner, CEO, Charlotte Mecklenburg Library. A great follow-up discussion indicated many interested in improving practices and policies around Intellectual Freedom in their own organizations.

⚠️ Safety is a top priority for Canadian public libraries. The CULC/CBUC Safety and Security Toolkit provides a menu of options to help manage and respond to security incidents more effectively. Visit http://librarysafety.ca to enhance your library's safety plan! 📚

Just released — OVERDUE: The Case for Canada’s Public Libraries is the product of three years of CUI’s engagement with Canada’s urban public libraries alongside @culc_cbuc.
