Jefferson Gilbert stepping down as Executive Director from CULC/CBUC

After 15 years of excellent service to CULC/CBUC, Jefferson has notified us that he is going to transition out of the organization effective the end of April.

As an Executive, we are grateful for the outstanding commitment that Jefferson demonstrated to the public library sector, both in his time with CULC/CBUC, and through his work with OLA. We will miss his wise counsel in matters of strategy, governance and government relations, his deep understanding of the library and non-profit landscape; his vision for CULC/CBUC; and his unending belief in the potential of libraries as a vital element of an engaged and equitable city.

Under Jefferson’s stewardship, CULC/CBUC has become a strong organization that has undertaken vital research; campaigned on a number of fronts including against e-content pricing; rallied together in response to COVID-19, developed many critical partnerships, and been pivotal in the launch of CFLA, CELA, and the PLL among many other achievements. Each year we marvel at the collective achievements of Jefferson and CULC/CBUC members.

Jefferson will continue to support the transition to a new ED, for which we are truly grateful. The Executive has begun the search process for a new Executive Director.
