Congrats to Dan Atkins, CEO, Guelph PL

The Guelph Public Library Board is excited to share that Dan Atkins has been appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

“The Guelph Public Library is in the midst of a significant moment in its history,” says Danny Williamson, Chair of the Guelph Public Library Board. “After an extensive search, it became clear that Dan’s combination of experience and vision made him a perfect choice to lead the Library into the future.”

Atkins has been acting CEO of the Library since the retirement of Steve Kraft in February 2024. His role as CEO will begin in December 2024.

“I am honoured to serve as the CEO of the Guelph Public Library, dedicated to fostering innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity as we continue to empower our community through knowledge and connection,” Atkins says.

In his role as CEO, Atkins will work closely with the Board to uphold the Library’s mission to offer inclusive, sustainable space with opportunities for people to engage their curiosity and create community. He will oversee the move of the main library to its new central location in the Baker District in downtown Guelph while empowering branches to continue growing community connections.
